messagePages() only split on \n (line) and \f (paragraph), so a translated
message needing a \v scroll-continue break -- the same marker PackMenu and
PrizeMenu's messages already rely on via CommonText.pages -- rendered wrong
here: no line ever scrolled. Delegate to CommonText.pages, the same shared
page-break implementation PackMenu and PrizeMenu already use for their own
messages, instead of a second, incomplete reimplementation local to this
file.
CommonText.pages() also only treats \n as the box's second row, not a page
break, unlike the old local messagePages(), which grouped every two
\n-separated lines into a page regardless of \f. The one BOX_FAILURE_SOURCES
literal with a third line via a second bare \n ("You'll need a\nPOKéMON to
call\nwith.") needed \f instead, the marker every other multi-page message
in this file already uses for the same transition (see RELEASED just
above); pinned with a test.
CenterPcMenu.lua's own TEXT.noMon had the identical \n-vs-\v bug: the
Pokecenter PC's empty-party refusal (_PokecenterPCCantUseText, "ends in
cont" per the comment already on this line) needs \v to scroll "have a #MON
to" up and land "use this!" under it, not a third bare \n line, which
pagesOf() (this screen's own \f/\v-aware paginator, unaffected by the
messagePages() bug above) renders as a lone one-line page instead -- caught
by gen1recomp/dev's own independent fix to the same line while rebasing this
branch onto dev, and confirmed against tests/gen2_pc_screens_test.lua's
scroll assertions. The French/German/Spanish/Italian/Japanese/Korean
overrides already carry the correct \v in their translated values; only the
lookup key needed the same fix, made in gen1recomp-translation-mods
alongside this commit.
PcMenu.lua's own CHANGE BOX save confirmation stayed in English on every
non-English build: its overwrite/saving/done prompts and its YES/NO choice
were bare literals, invisible to a translation mod's `strings` registry,
even though the overwrite/saving prompts are the exact same two cart
messages Gold's SAVE screen (SaveMenu.lua) already routes through
Strings().
SaveMenu.lua now exports OVERWRITE_PROMPT_SOURCE, SAVING_PROMPT_SOURCE and
twoLines() so PcMenu:savePrompt() can call through them instead of
duplicating the two shared prompts. The now-unused plain
OVERWRITE_PROMPT/SAVING_PROMPT tables (PcMenu's old direct-read contract)
are gone along with them, removing a second copy of the same literal text
that had to be kept in sync by hand. The CHANGE BOX confirm prompt itself
("#MON BOX, data\nwill be saved. OK?") gets its own new Strings.source()
key -- it is not shared with SaveMenu, and the port's own English text is
already a same-shape truncation of the cart's three-line
_ChangeBoxSaveText, confirmed against poke-corpus GoldSilver
en_msg.txt:4897. The done message and YES/NO now go through the exact
same Strings() keys SaveMenu.lua already uses ("%s saved\nthe game.",
"Could not save.", "YES", "NO"), so a translation covering SaveMenu's
screen needs no PcMenu-specific fork for any of those.
Added tests/engine/gen2_pcmenu_changebox_save_translation_test.lua,
mirroring gen2_save_menu_translation_test.lua's technique for PcMenu's own
CHANGE BOX flow, and updated the stale cross-file-contract regression case
in gen2_save_menu_translation_test.lua to match the new shared-export
shape instead of the old plain-table one.
Silver: derived import manifest (tools/make_silver_manifest.py re-resolves
the Gold manifest's symbols from pokesilver.sym), silver GameVersion row,
generation-keyed extractor routing, required-files override, edition save
stamping (a Silver playthrough no longer writes into the Gold save),
checkver-driven edition data, SILVER/KAMON/OSCAR/MAX presets, GOLD rival
default, edition credits banner, Lugia title screen (OAM layouts, bob,
trail, palettes as title.lua data keys with Gold defaults so old caches
need no re-import), packaging for every build target, docs, and tests.
Launcher: the installed-mods list is one continuous scroll (rows culled to
the viewport) instead of a pager with an inner scroll viewport; the pad
cursor's edge-scroll no longer runs it to the bottom. The game dropdown
shows just the initial and caret. Find-tab behavior unchanged.
Title tempo: a sprite-anim frame shows duration+1 ticks
(engine/sprite_anims/core.asm GetSpriteAnimFrame), which locks both
editions' 64-tick wing beat to the 64-tick sine bob; the title screens no
longer run fast and out of phase.
