A title that ships Match display as its default asks the GPU for the monitor's full pixel height: 9x on a 4K panel, 10x on a scaled Retina panel (2338 px), 12x at 5K. game.toml [video] match_display_max_lines bounds that target height. 0, the default, is no cap: every title that does not set it behaves exactly as before. - Only Match display is capped; a player who picks 4K, 5K or 8K gets it. - On a monitor no taller than the cap, Match display is unchanged. - The launcher's note under the row says "Match display stops at N lines in this game", and the log line says when the cap applied. - psx_ir_match_display_lines() (internal_resolution.h) is the pure rule; every Match display site (launcher seed/adopt, apply at boot, the GL context's monitor measurement) goes through it. - Tests: internal_resolution_test (the rule and the scales it gives), video_enhancement_settings_test (game.toml parse, default 0, range).
