* fix(hopper): preserve caller abort reasons on cancellation
Hopper cancellation dropped the caller's abort reason, and the typed
error treated an explicit undefined cause as omission. Retain the exact
reason at the request queue, startup, socket, and launcher boundaries.

Preserve exact selected-image identity and descriptor ownership across preparation, final cleanup, and retries. Keep physical failures and failed cleanup leases observable through provider and launcher boundaries.
Closes#5688
Use the public rename API for an explicit empty existing name, retain omitted names and raw listing values, and verify fresh unnamed creation and explicit mutations by readback. Preserve independent verifier restorations and their primary failures.
Refs #5475. Focused bridge regressions and the complete real-Hopper suite passed on macOS arm64 with Hopper 6.6.0-demo 42.6316032. The verifier used a temporary unavailable Ghidra override to meet its sole-candidate prerequisite; reporter Hopper 6.1 remains unverified.
Return publisher refusal before unrelated private-display prerequisites can mask it. Retain display validation for admitted launchers, native launcher digest revalidation and owned cleanup.
Add a public CLI fault control using an unusable Python home, preserve the ordinary control and assert display selection for admitted versus refused launchers. Affected tests: 177 passes; 13 changed-file cases passed three additional repeats; full static checks pass.
Real-Hopper owner-exit identity revalidation fails identically on unchanged main and the PR; complete real-provider qualification is not passing. This pre-existing failure remains outside this focused correction.

Attribute regex inventory failures to the accepted search operation while retaining wire identity, typed outcomes, captured facts and live cleanup dependencies. Preserve exact cancellation reasons at inventory and progress completion.
Validated with focused source, socket-boundary and public CLI fixtures, existing MCP contract checks, check:fast and docs:check. Simulated Hopper only; real-engine behavior and performance costs remain unmeasured. Refs #4680.
Carry asynchronous readiness through provider selection, session status, CLI and MCP. Join observations during cancellation and shutdown, keep status readable during finalization, and retain mixed provider errors and exact cleanup dependencies through the shared inspection failure owner.
Validation: 255 focused tests across 18 files; 21 registry tests rerun with primary restoration assertion; check:fast; docs:check and 5 README conformance tests. Registered MCP and SDK schema checks use controlled providers; no real Ghidra/JVM verification.
This is a prerequisite for #4561. The synchronous Ghidra Java producer and its doctor/client ownership migration remain unfinished.
BREAKING CHANGE: binary_session candidate availability can be unknown during owner finalization. Consumers must handle this state; the internal session status API is now asynchronous.

Give concurrent Ghidra and Hopper callers independent waits over one owned startup. Join final-caller cleanup, preserve failed cleanup owners, and derive readiness from the current startup result and live transport. Distinguish provider closure from caller cancellation and clean up interrupted final lineage observation.
Reuse the Ghidra socket fixture, replace stale cancellation health assertions with cold and warm reuse controls, and cover public MCP peer cancellation. Validation: 315 affected tests, build, typecheck, lint, docs, and 25 relocated startup controls passed. Controlled child bridges only; real Ghidra JVM and Hopper GUI verification remains unperformed. Replace fixed Linux Hopper release pins with current vendor feed metadata,
complete detached-PGP package verification under the stable publisher primary
key, and authenticated package evidence for offline admission. Share parsed
publisher facts across approved setup, doctor and the pre-execution guard.
Preserve existing ownership, cancellation, private-display and cleanup rules.
Fixes#3577
Normalize empty XDG settings, preserve backups during approved cache repair,
and retain publisher cleanup through cancellation and shutdown. Exercise cold
offline verification without reusing process-local proof state. Serialize
approved cache publication across processes, restore old evidence on failure,
and share the existing lease owner from process without changing its identities.
Validation: 438 focused tests (six platform-related skips), full static/documentation checks, real Ubuntu
24.04 official Hopper 6.6.0 setup/CLI/MCP, offline ordinary-user admission,
launcher mutation rejection, and cold/warm verification measurements. Official
RPM metadata mismatch is tracked separately in #3578 and fails closed.
BREAKING CHANGE: Older Linux Hopper builds admitted by the fixed allowlist
now require retained publisher-signed package evidence or an approved update
to the current public demo. Update explicit HOPPER_LAUNCHER_PATH values when
migrating; the live feed exposes only its current release.

Restore source-position-aware ambient aliases, scalar env/argv reads, candidate
endpoint worker data, Chrome DOMSnapshot empty strings, and accumulated Ghidra
LaunchSupport diagnostics. Align regression fixtures with declared current
contracts, while preserving identity, provenance, cancellation, and cleanup
checks. Assert workflow caveats independently at both established locations.
Validation: original five source failures reproduced on main; 307 focused tests
passed with one platform skip, 22 fixture follow-up tests and 22 workflow/MCP
tests passed; full static and docs checks passed. Real public http-server CLI
analyses preserve identical artifact identity, statistics, and 581-token selected
output. Real Chromium confirms restored DOM form destinations; isolated real
service-worker verification passes on main and the change. The complete local
browser run retained an unclassified later marker timeout; current-head CI
provides complete real-browser and recovery lane results. Native IDA/Ghidra
execution and complete local suite execution are not claimed.

Verify the native helper's sealed identifier and pinned Apple signing team in BridgeLauncher, then carry that provenance to HopperClient. Only a verified native helper's complete not-found exit confirms no document handoff, allowing runtime and target-lease cleanup and retry; wrappers retain unknown document state.
Share publisher identity with setup through the domain contract. Correct fixture teardown ordering and parameterized MCP coverage. Validation: 54 focused tests passed across boundary, CLI, MCP acceptance, diagnostics and installer coverage (one Linux-only case skipped); check:fast passed. Real codesign verification accepted the installed official Hopper helper; Spotlight failures and bridge recovery used process fixtures.
Bind the owned demo helper to REA's private stdin stream and unwind child

Avoid lazy provider startup for document and procedure completion. Propagate MCP cancellation through completers, cancel lookups during session transitions, and share provider result projection with ordinary operations. Cover cold, starting, warm, queued, cancelled, and closed sessions through MCP composition and provider boundaries.
Inspect the typed primary startup failure retained by aggregate cleanup errors. Materialize isolated targets before real lease acquisition so launcher scenarios reach the behavior under test. Repairs the Linux shard and Windows curated test failures without weakening cleanup retention coverage.
Verify retained provider operation health before reusing the same target and profile. Retire failed Hopper clients through existing owned cleanup, preserve healthy reuse and cancellation, and start replacement children lazily on the next query.

* fix(test): preserve Ghidra interior-label controls on Mach-O
* test: preserve selector semantics and accept signaled fixture exits
* test(javascript): exercise deep returns through the public CLI
Give Ghidra and Hopper an 8 MiB aggregate retained-output budget while continuing to drain their process pipes. Expose total observed bytes at the supervisor boundary and retained bytes plus explicit truncation in provider diagnostics.
Redact known transport tokens even when the retained prefix ends inside one, preserving adjacent caller path/query evidence. Existing partial-launch and cleanup ownership remain intact.
Validation: 285 tests across 34 focused suites passed; the final cutoff-fixture refinement passed all 31 Ghidra/Hopper diagnostic tests. check:fast and architecture guards passed. Provider fixtures use real child processes; real Ghidra/Hopper applications were not verified.
Reject omitted segment bounds, procedure classification and body facts, unresolved-call observations, dossier facets, and Ghidra parameter flow metadata. Providers emit explicit nulls for unsupported facets. Verify those unknowns in the real Hopper workflow.
BREAKING CHANGE: Provider analysis outputs must explicitly supply metadata previously repaired with defaults; unsupported nullable facets must be reported as null.
Deliver complete Evidence directly through MCP with required nullable analysis profiles and immutable per-server delivery settings. Bind selected environments at construction and require typed cleanup outcomes with retained retry ownership.
Remove test-only routing, duplicate session and snapshot metadata, producer-field repairs, and ambiguous provider arguments. Separate artifact byte identity from occurrence classification and retain typed source-map and partial native facts across CLI, MCP, and verifier consumers.
BREAKING CHANGE: obsolete Evidence envelopes, session aliases, incomplete snapshots, and missing normalized producer facts are no longer accepted.
* perf(hopper): resolve string search records once per query
search_strings called _string_inventory(document) once per match, and each
call sorts every string address and rebuilds the record dict, so a query cost
O(matches x strings log strings). Resolve the inventory once per search.
Warm search, 50% matches, fake document, best of 7: 1000 strings 186 -> 0.5 ms,
4000 strings 3161 -> 2.1 ms, 8000 strings 13121 -> 4.9 ms; output byte-identical.
* perf(hopper): skip record resolution for empty string searches
Resolving the full string inventory for a query with no matches added a sort
of every string address that the previous code never performed. Return early
when nothing matches. Zero-match search on a warm document, best of 7:
64000 strings 35.9 ms before this change, 4.0 ms after (main: 3.9 ms).
* fix(hopper): enforce caller-supplied request deadlines
* fix(hopper): correct idle deadline state and name timeout bound
Zero-ms deadlines never enter the FIFO, so report providerState
not_started instead of busy; the busy wording tells callers to wait
for an active request that does not exist. Name the Node timer
ceiling once and reuse it in validation and the error message.
* fix(hopper): enforce elapsed deadlines before dispatch and replies
* fix(hopper): distinguish unsent requests in timeout diagnostics
* test(hopper): exercise request deadlines against native Hopper
