Unlike previous hardware generations, the glue-to-master transition is not managed by software, instead the transitions are managed as part of the power-up/down sequences controlled by SPA/CPA bits. The only thing that's required is to configure the link PHY for 'normal' operation instead of the PHY test mode. There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
